Is prickly pear a weed?
There is a misconception that all prickly pear species are noxious weeds. However, in all states except Western Australia, the opuntia ficus indica is an edible species and therefore not classed as a weed.
If you need further clarification please refer to the agriculture Victoria website under a-z of weeds.
How do your products work with so few ingredients?
The miracle of nature is that it has given us everything we need- we only have to look. Each ingredient is so rich in it’s bioactive components that it is able to perform it’s role to perfection. To preserve the quality of our ingredients, traditional methods and minimal processing are used. Our products celebrate the first of the Naturopathic Principles, the healing power of nature, where we trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself.
Are your products safe to use by everyone?
Our products can be used by everyone, to address specific issues. If you are unsure, please contact us.
Do you use any animal-derived ingredients?
All our products except our lip balms are plant- based. We source our beeswax from our own hives only when we are cleaning them, which means we do not generally have a lot of this ingredient.
Do your products need to be stored in a special way?
We recommend you store your products under 30 degrees Celcius to slow down the natural oxidation process that occurs with oils.
The prickly pear cactus wash should be kept away from direct sunlight as the natural pigments may fade. This is due to a process called photodegeneration. This means that the colour in the prickly pear gel gradually loses it’s ability to absorb and reflect different parts of the visible spectrum of light, resulting in a faded appearance. This is an entirely natural process and does not reflect the quality or effectiveness of the product. If you wish to try to extend the longevity of the deep green colour, you may wish to decant into a dark bottle or to keep away from sunlight. On the other hand, you may enjoy watching the colour change over time.
